Bug Description

I'm installing mythbuntu Alpha 4

I chose standard installation

When the installer asks if I want to install proprietary video codecs, I click the button and the installer becomes unresponsive. I had to kill the process to close it. I was able to complete the installation by ignoring the video codecs.

My video card is a Nvidia GeForce FX 5500

I had no network connection. (could it be trying to download the nvidia driver?)

I have the same problem. My computer has an on-board NVIDIA GeForce 6100 chipset for graphics. With the alpha 3 version, the installer didn't become unresponsive, but a message indicated that the NVIDIA driver could not be found at the address specified, so couldn't be installed. I do have a working network connection.

Same problem here, Nvidia 7600GT.

Was able to install with proprietary driver by installing NX server and running "ubiquity --debug mythbuntu_ui" remotely.

Should also mention that I have to boot in "safe graphical mode" or the screen gets corrupted when X loads.

Also having same issue freezing at proprietary driver selection and corrupted graphics if I don't go into safe mode when plugged into my tv and using an SVideo connection. No corrupt graphics if hooked up to a computer monitor, but still locks up.

This was actually caused by restricted-manager, which has now been dropped from the installer. The user will manually select proprietary drivers as necessary.
