Bug Description

Binary package hint: fontconfig-config

In both Feisty and Gutsy, if the MS Core Fonts package (msttcorefonts) is installed, Times New Roman and many other commonly-used fonts are available to applications and are used when appropriate. However, if the document/website/etc specifies similar fonts that are commonly aliases for the MS Core Fonts on Mac/Windows (such as "Times" for Times New Roman or "Courier" for Courier New), different fonts are used. This can make documents appear differently than originally intended when viewed on Ubuntu.

Anyway, it would seem logical to have Times be an alias for Times New Roman, Courier for Courier New, and so on - that way, the common aliases will mean the same thing as on Mac/Windows when these fonts are installed. If these fonts aren't installed, the current substitutes for Times New Roman, Courier New, et al would be used.

Could this be done for Gutsy?
