Gimp fails to start when sane is installed

Bug Description

When the "sane" package is installed, running "gimp --verbose" hangs after the line

Querying plug-in: '/usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/xscanimage'

Gimp starts normally without this package.

Oops. Obviously, I should have mentioned that I am reporting this bug in the current Gutsy version of sane: 1.0.14-2.

Gimp is version 2.3.18-1ubuntu2, if that matters.

I had the same problem GIMP wouldn't start until i had removed both sane and xsane.
