Screen doesn't dim on Compaq Presario V3010US

Bug Description

I should be able to dim my screen with Fn+F7, or brighten it with Fn+F8, but neither combination works; Fn+F7 makes the screen flicker, but it doesn't get any dimmer. I have my battery brightness set to 50 percent in gconf-editor under gnome-power-manager, and that doesn't work either. This seems to be affecting my battery life a lot.

This is on Gutsy AMD64, though it was also a problem for me on Feisty i386.

Have you tried Hardy yet?

Yes, I'm using Hardy, and the problem is the same.

I think it would be helpful if you'd attach the output of sudo lspci -vvnn. Thanks!

I believe this was a kernel issue, but in any case, it's no longer a problem in Intrepid. Thanks for checking back about it.
