I have the same problem in Kubuntu Gutsy Beta: krusader 1.80.0-1 .

I think that it is actually a more general issue: the package is installed belonging to "root". Thus, ~/.kde/share/config/krusaderrc is owned by "root" (not by the ordinary user, as all the other "rc" files in the same folder); as a consequence, when using it as a ordinary user I get an error saying that "krusaderrc" is not writable and that no changes in configuration will be saved. Of course, a simple workaround for the latter is to change

sudo chown <user>:<user> ~/.kde/share/config/krusaderrc && sudo chmod 600 ~/.kde/share/config/krusaderrc

palbarra, no, it's not.
krusaderrc is created when user saves settings. It must be you who saved settings in root one.
For me, it's fine.

Sorry, Victor, you are right regarding my comment on "krusaderrc". I have just purge krusader (and manually remove krusaderrc) and after reinstalling it, owner is ok. I might have launched it the first time from K-menu where it is run as root... Sorry for the confusion.

Shouldn't be an issue with the lastest Krusader in Intrepid.
