Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

Architecture: i386
Version: 1:6.6.193-1ubuntu1

My radeon 9550 does something weird if AGPFastWrite is enabled in xorg.conf. Display blanks and goes to power saving mode as if computer was turned off. I'm unable to test if the system is still in responsive state. Removing AGPFastWrite makes things work again. This is regression since Feisty or early Gutsy releases.

Thanks for your report. Actually this is not new bug. Fastwrites have always been unstable and is not recommended nor supported by the driver developers. In some previous versions of the ati driver the fastwrites were disabled unconditionally, even if they were turned on in xorg.conf and reported to be on in Xorg.0.log. Now, they are just defaulted to off, but will be turned on if the user insists.

Changed in xserver-xorg-video-ati:
status: New → Invalid
