Bug Description

Binary package hint: vmware-player

From the user perspective the main function of the vmware-player service is to set up networking for the VM.
But the service starts to late in Ubuntu Feisty, so postgres misses the vmnet* interfaces.

$ ls /etc/rc2.d/ | grep -Ei "postgres|vmware|net|ppp|mysql|portmap|cupsys"
S14ppp
S18portmap
S19cupsys
S19mysql-ndb-mgm
S19postgresql-8.2
S20mysql
S20openbsd-inetd
S20vmware-player
S21mysql-ndb

Moving it to S16 would help, and if printing from the VM is not working now, it may be because of this. If mysql can bind is just a matter of luck.

Thanks!

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 RC or later?
