Binary package hint: vdrift-data

vdrift-data suggests vdrift as package, but there is no package "vdrift" inside the repositories inside the ubuntu sources...

Neither vdrift nor vdrift-data are in Debian - I guess both should be removed.

this is insane!

if i wanted an identical debian system I'd use debian. games like this which are _actually_good_ should perhaps be kept in the repo's? I for one am not the only person stumped by this bad decision from the development team.

this is the first time ubuntu has disappointed.

surely the repo's are there to make life easier for everyday users? Why then would you back users into a corner to _force_ them to compile from source!

hilarious!

closing, marking as won't fix: vdrift was removed from debian (and hence from ubuntu) due to license issues (it contains material, that we have no permission to distribute). vdrift-data was after feisty removed for these reasons as well.

thanks for the speedy reply,

is it not possible to get it put in under the multiverse repo? it is a GPLv2
license, is there a conflict between licenses?

no, unfortunately not, as the files are completely undistributable, see http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=420965 / bug #122503 for details.
