Freshclam fails to get updates for days, with the following diagnostics in /var/log/

Eventually it gets through and gets daily.cvd but we may have several days running with outdated signature database. I'd suggest upgrading clamav package to a newer version and/or increasing retry interval to avoid "too often connections" situation.

There's little Ubuntu can do about clamav changinge the connection
frequency they will accept. You can change the connection frequency
yourself in the config file.
The current clamav is available for Feisty in the feisty-backports
repository.
