pidgin does not remember buddy sorting, sounds, well anything except accounts

I had the same issue. If you use 'pidgin' instead of 'gaim' as the command to start pidgin your preferences are loaded.

i tried. it is not working. it worked on feisty. i'm using gutsy beta now
and it is not working here.any other sugestions?

I also renamed my ~/.gaim file to ~/.gaim~ to make sure that the preferences weren't being read from there. The preferences seem to be saved in ~./purple.

devil_kc, are you still affected by this after the recent gaim updates?

i tried to uninstall pidgin and deleted everything that has *pidgin* in
it and- nothing. i'll try again and then contact you.

finally! after removing everything that had *gaim*, *pidgin* and *purple* in
its name and reinstalling pidgin everything worked.me happy:)

I'm closing this bug since I can no longer reproduce it and the poster has resolved it through reinstalling.

I am in fact still getting this bug, or something like it. My boss keeps getting after me because the buddy pounce won't save, and I have to remember to re-save it every day. I started out using gaim, but it has somehow transitioned to Pidgin. My configuration directory appears to be .purple, and .purple/pounces.xml does have user rw permissions, which is minimally what everything else has in that directory. Please let me know i fI should start a different bug.

What version of pidgin are you using? Is it still an issue with the latest package?

i'm using pidgin 2.5.1 back then i was using pidgin 2.0. i think:)
i solved the problem by deleting ~/.purple folder. i think that was ubuntu
problem, i am now using arch and i have no problems with anything:)
