Bug Description
I think this is a new bug, I usually press the "Power" button on my keyboard to shutdown the computer. It always present the shutdown dialong and works properly. Today I used the button that Gutsy has on the taskbar (the little red button) on the top right. After I press that button my computer froze and I had to manually restart.
After I restarted I tried the same and got the same results, so I think this is a problem with the button on the taskbar since when using other methods the dialog shows properly.
Let me know if I need to attach a file or give more description about this bug.
Thanks,
Santiago

A similar event happened to me. My laptop ( Lenovo N3000) did not freeze (Possibly due to 1GB RAM). But this was what happened. I changed the login screen / theme and I logged out. The new theme took effect. I was able to successfully login. But then when I want to power off and did press the red button (on task bar and one thats in systems menu), nothing happened. My system did slow down considerably I had to Shut down by pressing my laptop Shutdown key for 8-seconds.
Another side effect was when I did login was, I found out my desktop background went black rather than showing Ubuntu wall paper.
