latex render works but gives error message

Inkscape 0.48.5. OS X Yosemite 10.10.1. When using the extension Render LaTeX formula, the formula is correctly rendered, but an error message appears. Makes it necessary to close windows before proceeding. The error message is copied below. I had the same version of Inkscape working properly with the LaTeX extension on my work and home computers. On a new computer, I installed everything in the same way, using Fink for pstoedit, and the bug appeared. Don't know what could be different. Maybe the new Fink distribution? Very disappointing!
