Bug Description
hi im pretty new to linux (only 6days) but since i installed it iv pretty much been tryin anything i can find to get sound working.
im using ubuntu kernel 2.6.20.16 and everything has has worked great but no sound. i've trawled round google, and iv been to the manufacturers website,
i even appear to have the correct drivers downloaded to my desktop but still nothing my pc is a desktop with an asrock 4core dual sata2 board and the audio is onboard.
ubuntu says its a via hd audio card but those drivers wont install, xp says its realtek hd audio and after a bit of looking about i found out the driver is alc 888 this is on my desktop but wont install. folk have been really good about giving me commands or pages to try but still nothing. any help i could get here would be much appreciated.
thank you
mj
