Gutsy update 9/19/07: lost window minimize, maximize and close boxes

Bug Description

Ubuntu 7.10: The top window bar, which contains the minimize, maximize and close boxes to control the open window, has disappeared with the Sept. 19, 2007 Gutsy update of 153 packages, including compiz updates. The only way to close windows is through the FILE menu or from the lower panel.

UPDDATE 9/20/07: found a thread on the Ubuntu Gutsy Development thread in the forums with a temporary fix that works for Nvidia cards only:

It's a bug in the compiz wrapper.

Do this to fix it:

Code:

sudo gedit /usr/bin/compiz

Find: "GL_MAX_3D_TEXTURE_SIZE"

Replace with: "GL_MAX_TEXTURE_SIZE"

Save and close.

Have you tried restarting the window decorator (i.e. emerald). This sound very much like the problems I once had when starting beryl for the first time.

is yes. I also did a reboot which didn't work either.

Supplementing my report of 9/10/07: the update of 9/20/07 (totalling 107 files) has now completely trashed Compiz. All of the settings in "DL Desktop" and "Appearance > Desktop Effects" are correct, but there are zero effects. None of the hot key buttons work to rotate cube, etc.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

Wow this is a really old bug. This was fixed in the final gutsy release even.
