invest applet doesn't open dropdown

Bug Description
right clicked panel, selected "add to panel", dragged Invest applet onto it. now I get the invest applet button, which responds visually to the mouseover and click but doesn't open a dropdown. right clicking the button itself doesn't do anything. there is an unexpected gray box to the right of the applet, which does respond to my right click and enables me to perform the usual tasks (move, close) on the Invest applet.
