Modprobe hangs the system until killed due to the amount of memory used by it

Bug Description
When I run "modprobe cx88-dvb" the system hangs until the proccess is killed.
It seems to be due to some sort of recursive function since it's killed due to a lack of memory. Here is the dmesg output

This appears to happen with Ubuntu Feisty. Can you reproduce it also with the Ubuntu development branch (Gutsy)?
