Bug Description

Binary package hint: liferea

Liferea spits out many CRITICAL and "Fatal" messages when run from command line in Ubuntu 7.10 gutsy (up to date).
Here are some examples. I didn't have to try very hard to find these.

Adding a search folder with no search clauses prints many lines like this:

** (gecko:16498): CRITICAL **: db_item_check: assertion `sql != NULL' failed

** (gecko:16498): CRITICAL **: db_query_to_sql: assertion `tables != 0' failed

Just running and quitting spits out the following:

(gecko:16763): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_set_user_data: assertion `window != NULL' failed

(gecko:16763): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_set_back_pixmap: assertion `GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed

(gecko:16763): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_set_data: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

(gecko:16763): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_set_data: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

(gecko:16763): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_move_resize: assertion `GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed

(gecko:16763): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_show_unraised: assertion `GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed

(gecko:16763): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_hide: assertion `GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed

(gecko:16763): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_set_user_data: assertion `window != NULL' failed

(gecko:16763): Gdk-CRITICAL **: _gdk_window_destroy_hierarchy: assertion `window != NULL' failed

(gecko:16763): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

(gecko:16763): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_style_detach: assertion `style->attach_count > 0' failed

Right clicking outside below the feed list:

(gecko:16783): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_tree_model_get_path: assertion `iter != NULL' failed

(gecko:16783): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_tree_view_scroll_to_cell: assertion `path != NULL || column != NULL' failed

(gecko:16783): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_tree_view_set_cursor_on_cell: assertion `path != NULL' failed

Moving a feed by one position by dragging spews out a bunch like the following:

** (gecko:16783): WARNING **: Fatal: no node with id "" found!

** (gecko:16783): WARNING **: Fatal: no node with id "" found!

** (gecko:16783): WARNING **: Fatal: no node with id "Xu[\u0008" found!

** (gecko:16783): WARNING **: Fatal: no node with id "(a^\u0008" found!

** (gecko:16783): WARNING **: Fatal: no node with id "" found!

** (gecko:16783): WARNING **: Fatal: no node with id "" found!

This is known upstream, and they think this isn't important.

I'll remind them though, to fix as many warnings as possible.

I don't think so.

They have tried several times to fix theme, and they still try, and fix some. However, there are priorities, and other crashes, or regressions, or things that really affect usability have a high priority.

In the other side, that doesn't mean some of the failed assertions you had may be of high prio, so I'll forward this upstream, so they can evaluate.

Lars has fixed a couple of them (quoting him)

"The following warnings (caused by search folders without rules) are fixed
in SVN:

** (gecko:16498): CRITICAL **: db_item_check: assertion `sql != NULL'
failed

** (gecko:16498): CRITICAL **: db_query_to_sql: assertion `tables != 0'
failed

These specific assertions themselves do cause no unstability. More on the
others later..."

Some more were fixed some time ago. If you look at it now it looks much nicer, although there are still some failed assertions on quit.

I'm setting this to released, as it is rather old an the latest status update indicates that it is fixed in upstream.
