"Tag table" service

As part of the MARC record editor for the web-based staff client, metadata about the MARC format (e.g., fields, subfields, repeatability, field and subfield descriptions, fixed field definitions, and allowed value lists for indicators, fixed fields, and subfield values) will be made available to the MARC editor via a set of open-ils.cat methods.

The underlying metadata would be stored in the database rather than marcedit-tooltips{-*}.xml; there would be provision for:

- maintaining a separation between stock MARC21 definitions and local definitions
- supporting per-OU customization of the tag tables, e.g., to specify local-use fields to be visible in the editor or adjusting whether a field is mandatory
- having the MARC editor maintain a cache of the tag tables
- scripts to update the standard MARC21 definitions
- storing indicator values as ccvm rows
