Bug Description

current build number: 20
device name: krillin
channel: ubuntu-touch/stable/bq-aquaris.en
alias: ubuntu-touch/ubuntu-rtm/14.09
last update: 2015-03-30 10:20:33
version version: 20
version ubuntu: 20150312
version device: 20150310-3201c0a
version custom: 20150216-561-29-186

Steps to reproduce:
1. Set up U1 account, but enter the wrong password
2. Cancel
3. Set up U1 account using the correct credentials this time (same email as in 1)
4. Open Settings > About this phone
5. Press "Check for updates"

Note: Subsequent reproductions require killing the USS process.

Expected:
- List of updates loads and I can select which to install

Actual:
- List of updates seems to load for a moment, shows up for a fraction of a second, and page goes blank (besides the header). Also, it's not responsive, you can't go back. There are no crash files logged for this.

Note that, in contrast, Settings > Updates works as expected.

Perhaps this is because 'About this phone' > Updates is supposed to only show OTA updates, and currently there are none? If so, it should clearly say 'No updates' - but the fact you can't effectively press back (frozen) does indicate some sort of bug/crash nevertheless.

Thanks, I'm unsure why that could be. The about "check for update" button just pushes the same page than the main grid does, it's the exact same code loaded and should show the same results. I can't confirm that issue on bq rtm 260 either

those errors "ag_manager_load_account: assertion 'account_id != 0' failed" suggest it could be an issue with ubuntu-online-account rather ... subscribing mardy do the bug. Alberto, do you know if that's a known issue?

I was able to see a similar symptom on rtm proposed one try out of 5. The page started to load then blanked and was unresponsive. There are a number of app updates available.

When it occurred I had created my U1 login just prior from the button on the updates page.

It seemed to start working when I came back from lunch, but then I reproduced it again, and saw this in the logs:

2015-03-31 12:28:41,402 - WARNING - file:///usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/qt5/qml/Ubuntu/Components/PageWrapperUtils.js:30: TypeError: Cannot read property 'createObject' of null

When I press the unresponsive back button:

2015-03-31 12:29:53,349 - WARNING - file:///usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/qt5/qml/Ubuntu/Components/PageWrapperUtils.js:104: TypeError: Cannot call method 'destroy' of null

This just pushes the updates page onto the PageStack, nothing special. Maybe there's been a regression in the toolkit?

Did you remember how you reproduced? Did you get the online account warnings again then?

@stolowski, do you get the same warnings? The Ubuntu System Settings log file is located in /home/phablet/.cache/upstart/application-legacy-ubuntu-system-settings-.log — thanks!

BTW, as mentioned in the other bug report, my phone is in a state where I can reproduce this every time, even after reboot. It seems to be permanent.

@Pawel: does it work if you open the update panel from the main screen? is your u1 account correctly listed in account and working (e.g can you install clicks from the store)?

@Sebastien: Yes, if I open Updates from the main settings screen it looks good. My account works and is listed in Accounts, I can install apps from the store.

@Pawel, hum, ok :-/ Any chance you can try to debug the issue since you can reproduce it?

Do you have the same issue if you click on "Regulatory info"?
