Bug Description

Hi,

I've tried to install a clean Kubuntu Gusty from 2 daily isos (from 2007-09-21 and 2007-09-23). Both installations failed with a "Hash sum mismatch":

Try checking your discs integrity before installing, to ensure your disk is not corrupt.

Ok, I tried again.

- The ISO md5sum is correct.
- After burning, K3B verified the CD and it was OK.
- In the boot menu of the CD, I selected 'Check CD for defect' and no defect were detected.
- Then I tried to install and it failed again with exactly the same error message: «Sep 23 13:36:18 in-target: Failed to fetch cdrom:[Kubuntu 7.10 _Gutsy Gibbon_ - Alpha i386 (20070923)]/pool/main/a/acpi/acpi_0.09-3ubuntu1_i386.deb Hash Sum mismatch»
- Then, I used the option «Check the CD-ROM(s) integrity» from the "ubuntu installer main menu" to verify the CD-Rom integrity and it failed with the error: «The ./doc/install/manual/en/apd.html file failed the MD5 checksum verification. Your CD-ROM or this file may have been corrupted»

I've just tried using Jigdo and the same problem appeared again on the same files (acpi_0.09-3ubuntu1_i386.deb and apd.html).

I confirm this happens on Ubuntu daily from 2007-09-23 with exactly the same results.

This also happens with a Kubuntu Gutsy Tribe 5

Try not downloading a daily image build and go for herd 5, then
update, there maybe issues in the daily build perhaps.

In the previous comment, I said that the problem also happens with Tribe 5 :-(.

My apologies for not reading through properly. I do not no what to
suggest any further. Hopefully wait for the beta release and try from
there.

I found a workaround. When the message saying a package can't be installed appears, open a console, chroot /target, and install the package manually (through apt-get install). Then go back to the interface and try again the same step, it will pass.

However, this is just a workaround, not a fix.

I haven't tried to install another Ubuntu since then. I think you can close the bug for now. If I have a problem with the next release, I will open it again or create a new one.

Thank you
