Bug Description

Binary package hint: gconf2

On powerpc with the latest update from 2.19.1 to 2.20.0 gconf stops loading the local configuration and nothing that is stored in .gconf is loaded. I checked and .gconf has not changed like the evolution has the old version string.

I tried stracing it and it shows that gconfd-2 reads the .gconf directory.

Thank you for your bug. There is very little code changes between the versions and nobody else complained about a such issues so it's likely a local issue. Do you still have this bug? Could you try with an another user? Does using gconftool works correctly?

I have of this date 27 sep updated every package and it's still a problem
could I get the old package to build so I can see if it's something else
it's gone from the archive.

I can't seem to find where gconf now stores the values but it does. I
tried killing the daemon and then running gconf-editor and it worked.
I have tried attaching a strace to the daemon but it's to difficult
understanding what it's doing.

I don't have the tilda sign in these examples because the Alt-Gr does not
work because it's tied to a gconf registry value.
$ gconftool-2 -g /apps/evolution/version
2.12.0

$ cat .gconf/apps/evolution/%gconf.xml
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<gconf>
        <entry name="last_version" mtime="1133115216" type="string">
                <stringvalue>2.6.0</stringvalue>
        </entry>
        <entry name="version" mtime="1130797431" type="string">
                <stringvalue>2.6.0</stringvalue>
        </entry>
</gconf>

I found out what was wrong. Gconf for some reason and I tried a gconf
merge tree. It started working again apperently but now on the
merge tree file. So when I moved the file everything was back to normal.

But I don't know what caused it not working in the first place.
