I got this same error on a Gutsy system with totem-xine 2.20.0 with xine-lib 1.1.7.

This happened when I tried to play an MP3, the visualization was enabled but only showed a green screen with probably about 20-30 dots that seemed to change colors, as if it was trying to run the visualization stuff but couldn't get it. Anyway, when I went into preferences, the box for 'Type of visualisation' (isn't that misspelled.. that's how the program spells it?) was empty. I selected goom, and tried the others, but nothing really happened. I uncheck the 'show visual effects' box and click on close, and that is when it crashed on me.

I tried to re-produce the error to get a backtrace but couldn't reproduce the crash.

Same on hardy. Also, only if scrolling too much into the video. Never used to happen in Feisty.

Crashed when opening trying to open a MKV with SRT subtitles. The same MKV with subtitles was already opened and playing in gxine.

After close gxine, Totem worked OK.

The same problem happens every time. If gxine is paused, Totem works.

Occurred when trying to play a YouTube video in Totem. The video never played - this crash happened first.
