Bug Description
Binary package hint: restricted-manager
After installing the latest Gutsy daily image and using bcm43xx, there are some network problems. The nm applet showed that I was connected, but I still couldn't surf the web on firefox or get updates form update-manager.
Many times (after a new install) the solution to this problem is simply restarting the computer. This has worked for me and another person (can't remember who) using the driver/cutter.
Restricted Manager should ask the user to reboot after installing the driver to prevent them from encountering any unexpected network problems. This should improve the user's perception about wireless in Ubuntu.

Hi Nanley www.ubuntu. com/support/ community/ mailinglists might be a good start for determining which mailing list to use.
I don't think reboot the machine would be necessary, probably just need to reload the module so the firmware is loaded correctly or perhaps even reload network-manager.
Thank you for your suggestion. However, the changes you are requesting aren't really a bug and require more discussion, which should be done on an appropriate mailing list or forum. [WWW] http://
Anyhow probably just a reload of the bcm43xx module is necessary.
