Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

First of all, I use the latest version of Compiz (1:0.5.2+git20070918-0ubuntu3) and the open source ati driver (1:6.7.193-1ubuntu1) which enables me to run Compiz via AIGLX. Now, the following problem occurs to me:

When switching to fullscreen in Totem while having Compiz enabled with wobbly windows activated the bottom gnome panel is left visible. That's pretty much it, but in my opinion this is a little annoying. You can work around this simply by deactivating wobbly windows or Compiz entirely, but it'd be nice if it worked with wobbly windows, as well.

By the way, Totem seems to be the only player affected by this, because all the others I tested (MPlayer, VLC) don't create a new window for rendering fullscreen video.

I can confirm this bug using xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.1.1-0ubuntu4 in Gutsy. See attached screenshot of the problem.

This probably isn't a problem with the effects, but the way compiz draws windows. I think the problem might be related to bug #145292, Bug #145843, Bug #99847.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

Well, I haven't been using Compiz for a while, mostly because I tried FGLRX again and somehow broke my Radeon driver. Basically I can't test it anymore until I manage to magically repair it. On the other hand I think this bug would have been closed if that problem had been fixed, wouldn't it? ;)

Not always, sometimes a fix in one part fixes something else because they had the same root cause.
