Same thing man,

It says:

E: /var/cache/apt/archives/nvidia-glx-new_100.14.19+2.6.22.4-13.6_amd64.deb: trying to overwrite `/usr/bin/nvidia-settings', which is also in package nvidia-settings

and then the terminal error too. How do we fix this?

By the way, I have a nforce4 geforce 6100/405 motherboard chipset.

nvidia-glx-new includes the nvidia-settings utility. It should be set to conflict, not recommend, nvidia-settings. Richard and Abhejit, remove the nvidia-settings package then isntall nvidia-glx-new.

See bug #72979

The packages conflict, so nvidia-settings is not supposed to be installed unless you have the nvidia-glx-legacy package, which does not have it's own nvidia-settings.
