Bug Description

Binary package hint: gparted

On the gutsy liveCD, gparted is working very slow, it takes almost 10 minutes to scan my hard discs and it takes just seconds with the feisty liveCD.
Could this be a bug ?

Gusty still has some of the debugging code in it, we could use the output of syslog and dmesg to diagnose if this is another issue altogether. You can simply attach those files to this bug report.
Thanks,
David P.

Okey, I have attached dmesg to this post but I can't find the syslog thing, where is it stored ?
Also, I don't have any idea how the dmesg is going to help you.

PS. this is from a 7.10 installed version, I hope it didn't need to be from the liveCD

Bert, could you paste the output you get (on the command line) when running "sudo gparted" in a console?

Well, I forgot to mention this, I found out some time ago that if I delete fd and fd0 (which are made again every session/startup) that it will work normally. Now I took out my floppy disk 2 days ago and it still keeps creating fd and fd0.
So while typing this I realized that I can perhaps edit /etc/fstab, but I'm not sure that'll be enough ;)
