Bug Description

HP nx8220 notebook does not wake up after suspend to RAM if machine was booted with kernel parameter splash.

This was reported for 6.10, 7.04 and still happens on 7.10

Booting with nosplash provides a logon screen after wakeup.

David - If you feel that this is a duplicate of another bug you could mark this as such using the "Mark as duplicate" action in the left hand menu. However, I'm not convinced that it is as that bug report mentions removing a "vga=" option from the kernel boot parameter.

Wolf, could you try removing the vga= option from the kernel options in /boot/grub/menu.1st and leaving usplash on, this could replicate the bahavior experienced elsewhere.
Brian - yeah, I didn't want to makr it perm yet until I had a bit more info; I thought I put the above text in there already :(

It sounds similar to 140892. However, if I boot with splash it happens, if booted with nosplash suspend works.

Uninstalling usplash has nothing to do with this.

If you could add the full output of 'sudo lspci -vvnn' to your bug report that would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
