middle button don't work anymore

Bug Description

Hi,

My middle button simply stopped working one or two weeks ago. When clicking on it, nothing happens. But using the scroll wheel is just fine.
I used xev to detect if any events are generated but that's not the case.

The only workaround I found is to unplug and plug again the mouse: by doing this I can use again the middle button.

Here are some details on my configuration

$ uname -a
Linux gemini 2.6.22-12-generic #1 SMP Sun Sep 23 20:03:18 GMT 2007 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Could you please add your '/etc/X11/xorg.conf' file as an attachment to your bug report? Thanks in advance.

I believe you want to remove the following line:

    Option "Emulate3Buttons" "true"

from your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. After doing that you will need to restart X by either rebooting your system or logging out of your session and then pressing "Ctrl+Alt+Backspace". Please let us know how that works out for you. Thanks again.

I didn't touch the xorg.conf but since today problem disappeared. So best is perhaps to close this bug since I can't reproduce the bad behaviour. If problem reappears, I will reopen this bug

As there is no definitive indication as to how this was fixed I am going to mark the bug as Invalid. However, if this crops up again please change the bug's status back to New. Thanks again!

Changed in xorg:
status: Incomplete → Invalid
