Bug Description

DigiKam software doesn't recognize my Canon Powershot A510 when it is connected by USB cable.

Here's what I get when I type 'lsusb' in Konsole.

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 04a9:30c2 Canon, Inc.
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

When I type in 'df -h' in Konsole I get the following:

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1 18G 3.1G 14G 18% /
varrun 125M 100K 125M 1% /var/run
varlock 125M 0 125M 0% /var/lock
procbususb 125M 96K 125M 1% /proc/bus/usb
udev 125M 96K 125M 1% /dev
devshm 125M 0 125M 0% /dev/shm
lrm 125M 33M 92M 27% /lib/modules/2.6.20-16-generic/volatile

I've got the camera switched to the view mode when hooking it up to the laptop. As soon as I plug in the camera digiKam starts up but then I get a connection failed pop-up and when I retry it's the same thing.

This doesn't work on my laptop, which has updated version of Kubuntu. Yet, the home computer (with a dual boot, Ubuntu, and Windoz 2000 will download the pics with Unbuntu.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 RC or later?
