Bug Description

To reproduce boot the 14.04 release candiate i386 iso and on my hp laptop with hard profile https://gist.github.com/dabcbbc9bdcb7ed8d87d and boot and try to use the touchpad and it will not work. I input a usb keyboard keyboard with touchpad and mini keyboard. However it appears that xorg-xserver-input-synapitcs does not get any output. Running the cmomand synclient from the command line gives me the output Couldn't find synaptics properties. No synaptics driver loaded?
xserver-xorg-input-synaptics-lts-vivid:
  Installed: 1.8.1-1ubuntu1~trusty1
  Candidate: 1.8.1-1ubuntu1~trusty1
  Version table:
 *** 1.8.1-1ubuntu1~trusty1 0
        500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-updates/main i386 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
It appears that the driver for the vivid version of X is installed and vivid has the touhcpad working. So this might be something in the way the updated x input drivers get loaded. I

I expected the touchpad to work like it did with trusty with 3.13 kernel utpoic all the way through wiley it works in all of those. Instead the touchpad doesn't move the cursor or click and the scrollwheel along the side does not work.

If I select install from the menu however the synaptics driver gets loaded so this is strange.

It works in the final install and after reboot which makes this more strange.
