Bug Description

Please package the python matplotlib toolkit basemap and the additional high resolution data for Ubuntu.

This is very important for scientists working with Ubuntu and using python for data plotting.

Many distributions already try to integrate it:

Is there a package in existence anywhere for Intrepid? I can't find anything and easy_install doesn't work.

I would really like to see this packaged as well. Having trouble installing it using:

checkinstall python setup.py install

It's quite an important package for scientific applications.
