Bug Description

After updates to Ubunto 7.10 which included an update from vmlinuz-2.6.20-15-generic to vmlinuz-2.6.20-16-generic, on rebooting as requested,

1 - Totem (2.18.1) opens, but shows only a blank screen and will not play videos or music it played before the update. I see the spinner, and the window is unresponsive.

2 - LiVES does not even get to the splash screen: it opens a zombie process and a running process that use 99% of the CPU cycles until I kill the process.

I have not tried any other multi-media programs ... although the GIMP and Picasa and Second Life were working as usual.

I reverted to the vmlinuz-2.6.20-15-generic kernel, and they open as usual.

If you want details, just give me commands to cut and paste ...

I'm still using Ubuntu 7.10 and 2.6.20-15-generic, because that was the last working configuraiton for LiVES and Totem, which I use heavily.

I've been waiting to have someone tell me how to get them any info they need to debug this.

If you want to declare this as CLOSED UNRESOLVED, close it.
