Bug Description

I upgraded to gusty, and rebooted. Afterwards, I went to the video configuration interface, and marked "screen 2" to be a secondary display, while plugging my external monitor on (a 17" LCD one from LG). After hitting ok, the system asked to log off. After doing so, It went through some black screens, some glitches, and then the same screen configuring interface came up. No matter what I select for the screen 1 or screen 2, or whith driver I select, after hitting test, cancel or ok, the system goes through some black screens, some glitches, and the comes back to it. I tried to reboot the system, and the same screen comes up.

I have the same trouble with intel 945GM.
[hardy alpha 3] : when I plug the second screen, gnome show me a logon screen at the size of second screen on the internal screen. The second screen remain blank.

For intel cards using the -intel driver (the default on Gutsy), the displayconfig-gtk app cannot be used for configuring dual monitors, because displayconfig-gtk uses Xinerama for multi-head layouts, but -intel does not support it. Please see http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Xorg_RandR_1.2 for a discussion on how to configure this manually.

For Hardy, we are deprecating the displayconfig-gtk gui config tool since it's caused so much confusion. See http://bryceharrington.org/drupal/display-config-2
