waste of disk space

RC is no problem. We need some of these files, but not others (for example the libs/pdf directory is not needed)

I think Matthias's point is that we are copying the same stuff to multiple locations when perhaps we should be using symlinks. Is that right?

That's partly right, but the bit I was talking about came from an
email exchange with Matthias about files in libs/pdf which don't need
to be included in the binary at all.

hmm, I've just been removing libs/pdf from the source package for edubuntu-docs. Is there any good reason to include that directory?

Nope. I've added this to debian/README.Debian in ubuntu-docs so that
it is automatically removed at build time.

Ok, I've committed a fix for this to the docteam repository - I've restored the script that pitti added for feisty to eliminate symlinks. Hope that does the trick.

Since I've also added translations to the package, a debdiff would be ridiculously large so I haven't bothered attaching one. Translations included in the binary are limited to those up to 30% translated.

I intend to update the translations for the last time this weekend from Rosetta and prepare a final upload for Monday. There are still some xml validity errors in the translations which I will fix then too.

Following a discussion in #ubuntu-devel, I've made a further change in the repository that only installs translations which are over 90% complete; in order to slim down the package size to a manageable 1.3MB. I understand this to be a temporary measure which we can then revert when more space is available on the CD.

Daniel - thanks for this. Did you get the absolutely latest version? I thought I'd updated the changelog to include info on the 90% change, but I don't see that on the version in the gutsy-changes list.
