Bug Description

Kubuntu 7.04 perhaps a simillar bug like given by (Bug #27323) but there solution if there is any did not work.
Well the bug is easy to explain and goes too much on my nervs that i am thinking going back to OpenSuse.

There is some mechanism which permanently spins the drive up and down every some seconds. Since i am writing my thesis i am not in the mood to play Sherlock homes on this distribution. You guys should be able to make a working enviroment, which has not these kind of crazy bugs.

If I start Firefox or any program this becomes even more crazy permanently 7.04 spins my harddrive up and down.

I have installed on a Asus Notenbook and the Notebook tools are also on it. Somebody has written for (Bug #27323) that the imapct of this bug is low. This is a joke the impact of this bug is very high and brings me to the point to reinstall a new linux distribution.

i have checked some tasks and killing the hal daemon solved this problem. As i could find out the problem is due to the fact that my harddrive is mounted as /dev/sda which for the hal daemon is a removable device. This is wrong, normally it should be mounted on /dev/hda so the hal configuration must be changed or better the drive should not be mounted on /dev/sda but on /dev/hda. Why ubuntu is mountin the main harddrive under /dev/sda this is not the right way i think and that may cause all this problem.
