Bug Description
Binary package hint: displayconfig-gtk
Using an nvidia Geforce go 6600 with the new nvidia-glx driver (nvidia):
When using displayconfig It shows two screens when I have my video out plugged in, one is the laptop and one is Generic (640x480), I change the generic to a LCD 1280x1024. I set the resolution as such. I press apply. I restart x.
Instead of the connected external monitor being set, the lcd changes resolution to 1280x1024 and the LCD stays off. I then need to rewrite my xorg using nvidia-xconfig.

Thank you for reporting this bug and for your efforts to make Ubuntu better. As Xorg has improved this past year, an unfortunate side effect of these improvements is that it has rendered several design assumptions in displayconfig-gtk obsolete. So, starting with Hardy we are no longer putting displayconfig-gtk forth as a primary configuration tool, and are putting our development focus into the Screen Resolution applet. Further, the nvidia driver replaces a *lot* of the functionality of the X-server, and so is considerably different from xorg, making troubleshooting that much harder. As a result, we do not plan to fix this bug and thus are closing it.
