Installing/Updating language support failed with "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" message

Bug Description

Trying to add another language as the default in the system, indicates the message that "Language support is not installed completely" [screenshot1].
That's an ordinary message.

When I'm clicking the "Install" button I get an error [screenshot2].

From this point and after, I cannot call back the Language Support menu. It does not open at all.

It will open if I restart the session and it will fail again with the same error message.

$ sudo service lightdm restart

The "workaround" to alter the system language is to click the "Remind me later" button instead of "Install".

How to reproduce.

1) Open the Language Support
2) Where the message window indicates that "Language support is not installed completely" [screenshot1] hit the "Install" button.

This bug has been filled manually, as I cannot find any crash report in /var/crash/ folder.

Thanks for your report, Nick.

I wasn't able to reproduce the problem on a newly installed and updated Ubuntu wily amd64. Can you please start Language Support from a terminal window (command: gnome-language-selector) and let us know the terminal output from a failed attempt to install the missing packages.

Unfortunately terminal had zero output during the execution of command (gnome-language-selector) , despite that the error message appeared.

See attached screenshot3

I had some output in keyboard interrupt (Ctrl+C) but I'm not sure if it's relevant with the error message.

I have also tried

$ unity-control-center -v

but no helpful output neither (I guess)

I have the proposed repositories enabled (always in development branches) and the system is up-to-date.

I think that traceback info may we useful for the right person.

I have learned that -proposed should normally *not* be enabled on development installs, but rather enabled temporarily when you know what you are doing. Possibly an explanation...

@Sebastien: Any chance that you can take a closer look at this?

I have searched and found bug #619363 .

I think we need a duplicate check, but I need help to identify.

could you give the output of "dpkg -l | packagekit"?

there was a buggy/incompatible version in wily-proposed, which didn't migrate to wily and got deleted, but if you are using wily-proposed you maybe got it...

(you shouldn't use proposed on devel version, it's not an user archive it's made for packages to be tested and transition only if there are no issues)

(Thanks for the advice about proposed repositories.
I'm using them in purpose. That's a testing system in order to report bugs, translation mistakes ..etc.

Further testing showed that is the aptd causing this problem. Imeddiately after the error Dbus message window, apport (this time) reacted with a crash report (thankfully) .

Attached here.

So, maybe this is a dup of bug #1494891 ?

could you "sudo apt-get install libpackagekit-glib2-16/wily gir1.2-packagekitglib-1.0/wily" and see if that resolves it

I have downgraded from proposed , several packages have been downgraded including the following

(maybe related on what you said)
