Hi Wesly
what does happens when you execute the command "sudo dpkg --configure -a" from a terminal?

does it give you a more detailed error, or just solves the problem?.

I don't know but I think my problem is ubuntu is on drive g: not e: . I don't know how to change that.

The E: is from "Error" not the drive identification letter.
This error usually occurs when for some reason an upgrade is interrupted at the installation/configuration stage, and usually is solved by running the command mentioned above. Please execute it and see if it solve this problem, if not, please attach the error messages here so we can identify the problem.

The problem was with an earlier update that did not install correctly. It was sun java. Once that was removed and installed correctly everything is working fine. Thanks for the quick response.

Glad to know you solve the issue, i'm closing this bug as invalid since there's no way to idenitfy the cause, and was solved by reinstalling manually a package.
