Bug Description

Hello,

I'm using a Lenovo 3000 C200 laptop and since I've upgraded from Feisty to Gutsy Beta, my brightness hotkeys no longer work as they were working quite well under Feisty.

In fact, from now, the brightness hotkeys do not work at all. When I press on the hotkeys, only an incorrect splash screen appears and nothing happens more.

I think the splash screen is incorrect in the way that I asked for some Desktop effects, which work quite well with a pretty splash screening for sound hotkeys, but which produce the "no desktop effects" splash screen for brightness functions.

Something seems no to be correctly plugged in acpi hotkeys management since Gutsy Beta.

Thank you to see if this can be fixed and merely a great hurray for the work you provide each and every day for new linux users and newbies such me.

Thanks a lot, guys.

Cheers.

Gateway M-6319 has similar problem. Brightness doesn't work by either function keys nor brightness applet.
The function keys works following hacks on /etc/apci/video_brightnessup.sh and /etc/acpi/video_brightnessdown.sh as described on following forum threads:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=767374
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=673946

But applet still doesn't work. I think whatever is called by acpi_fakekey 224 and 225 is not working correctly.
