Bug Description

Hi, I have got IBM ThinkPad T41, and kubuntu 7.04 running on it. I have updated my distro from 6.10 recently, and after some time I found that BlueTooth does not work anymore. In older distro, when I pressed Fn+F5, it enabled bluetooth if it was disabled, and vice versa. In KDE it used to told me that Bluetooth adapter was enabled or disabled. After update, it didn't work this way. I had to restart kubuntu, and use older kernel: linux-image-2.6.17-10 from older distro version (happy not to delete it ;). There I enabled it by Fn+F5 and did my work with bluetooth. After that, I tried to disable it this way, but it didn't work. I restarted back to standart distro kernel (2.6.20-16-generic), and voila, bluetooth remained enabled. Shortcut keys do not work, and only way to disable it si by 'echo disable > /proc/acpi/ibm/bluetooth'. I'm sure it hasn't been there before restart to older version of kernel, I have checked it and directory ibm contained no files. Well, now after all I can enable it or disable it as a root from command line, but this is definitely not as comfortable as it used to be, I WANT to use that shortcut. This behaviour is strange. I suppose, that when it used to work in older, said to be 'buggy' version, it should also work in a newer one.

I don't care for it now. I am finishing my bachelor's thesis and if I really
need bluetooth, I login as root and type: echo "enable" >
/proc/acpi/ibm/bluetooth
This enables bluetooth. Well, my room mates do not have time to play java
games on mobile, which I used to upload for them ;). Maybe this is solved in
newer version of (k)ubuntu, but I don't want to upadate it now, since I do
not want to to solve unexpected problems.

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux-image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and test.

--or--

2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4. Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced. You should then be able to test via a LiveCD.

Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the 2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26 kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback.
