Gnome terminal does not authenticate 'su' or 'sudo' using correct password. Konsole as root does.

Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-terminal
Terminal will accept basic commands (top, ps -A), but will fail at anything requiring password. Konsole seems to work fine, root login works with same password. Intermittent and sporadic.
