Full screen preview of screen saver broken

Bug Description

Many "3D" screen savers render in full screen preview such that objects expected to be behind other objects are rendered frontmost. This does not apply anywhere else. To reproduce:
1)System-->Preferences-->Screensaver
2)Select a 3D screen saver (I have "lattice" and "endgame," but there are many others that I have as well, all broken)
3)Press "preview"
4)When starting the screen saver manually through "lock screen" or naturally, there will be no problem
Not sure if this is dependent.
May be dependent upon having the following graphics controller:

Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller

Note: some of the comments may not make sense with this edit, so here's the last version summary: lattice screensaver fullscreen preview draws close objects behind far objects, and its description: It always appears as doughnuts in the preview, but not when I use "lock screen". It looks like this in the preview, but there's no problem in the screensaver itself and this is only in the fullscreen version. I do not know if this can be reproduced easily. Here is a screenshot (attatched in first comment). This is in feisty fawn (7.04).

there is no problem when waiting for screensaver to activate on its own either. It works normally and looks fine.

Two things come to mind now, firstly, this seems to affect many screensavers so that things that are behind other things are rendered in front in full screen preview, and that this is therefore a problem with the rendering engine used for full screen preview rather than the screensavers themselves, secondly, this also affects Gusty Gibbon.

I'm having the same problem on my Latitude D610. Here's a screen shot of Planetary Gears. What a mess!

The issue seems to be hardware related as the same preview renders fine on my nVidia video card based desktop . Inside my laptop Device Manager reports "Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller" as my video subsystem.

Can anyone comment on whether this is still present on hardy? I can't upgrade (I'm already subscribed to a bug for that).

Interestingly, I have the same graphics controller as Kajetan ("Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller")

Results from Hardy Heron are not encouraging. Here's a screen shot I just took. BTW, I didn't install Hardy, I just ran it live off the CD. Thinboy00, can you try Hardly live and post your screen shot?

Confirming for Intrepid. This maybe driver related as I too have the GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller using the intel driver. Also running dual screen
