Bug Description

Binary package hint: adept-notifier

The Adept Notifier dialog that's displayed when a reboot is required is a Yes/No dialog, but the message displayed is not a question.
It just says "In order to complete the update your system needs to be restarted" then has "Yes" and "No" buttons, a line like "Do you want to restart now?" should be to the dialog message.

To add to this bug, there is a typo in the caption also. It says "Restart Require". Instead of adding a question to the message I would suggest relabeling the buttons "Restart now" and "Restart later".

And which is even worse, if you click yes, the system is not restarted :P

I confirm this on Kubuntu 8.04.

$ adept_notifier --version
Qt: 3.3.8b
KDE: 3.5.9
Adept Notifier: 2.1 Cruiser

Restarting the computer is a serious interruption in whatever a person might be doing, and the user interface must leave no confusion on whether the computer will be restarted now.

Given the current wording, I would say this is better. Restarting after a user clicks yes would be restarting without the user's confirmation. Saying yes to "In order to complete the update your system needs to be restarted" does not mean the user wants to restart immediately.

Once the wording is fixed, of course, the "yes" or "restart now" button should actually restart. :-)

In Intrepid the notifier pops up a balloon message saying that a reboot is needed, and clicking the tray icon gives you the normal logout options to restart, reboot, etc. So as the dialog doesn't exist anymore, this isn't an issue. ;-)
