Bug Description

Floppy disk is missing in Konqueror and Dolphin (Kubuntu 7.10 beta LiveCD)
Konqueror: menu New / Show Navigation Panel / icon Services (on left tab) / element Storage Media - on this list floppy disk is missing

In old good Kubuntu 7.04 floppy works good and was on list in Storage Media !

Also not work:
Dolphin - tab Storage Media
typing in Konqeror adress: media:/ or system:/media

I can access to floppy only in this way: (not good for beginers!)
open terminal and type: sudo mount /dev/fd0 /mnt/
and use konqueror to browse the folder /mnt/
(after mount Konqueror still don't show floppy icon)

Xubuntu (7.10 beta LiveCD) and Ubuntu (7.10 daily 24.9.2007 alfa LiveCD) works good, displays floppy icon in file menagers, only Kubuntu 7.10 beta not work

I can confirm that the floppy icon is not present in 7.10 beta.

Its important because many of people use LiveCD to browse the internet, read a emails and they want to save their data (downloaded from the internet) into external memory like the floppy disk. Without the floppy icon Kubuntu 7.10 LiveCD is USELESS !

Personally for me this is not a bug but a feature. As too many icons are not good. I always wished that the floppy icon should only be present if a floppy is attached!

Ofcourse this does not affect the thing that a floppy icon should really be there - also in dolphin - if a floppydrive exists.

In final version of Kubuntu 7.10 I still can't find any floppy disk icon in any place !

I can mount the floppy disk ONLY in a terminal. After mounting with
sudo mount /dev/fd0 /mnt/

the only way to write to the floppy is:
sudo konqueror
(working with a files with the root privileges is dangerous)

Is Kubuntu a user friendly distro?

Only advanced user can use the floppy disk !

Windows 95 in 1995 used floppy disk but Linux Kubuntu in 2007 still can't do it?

For my grandmother I probable install (in KDE) Nautilus from Gnome. It have the floppy disk icon to mount/umount this device. But KDE+Nautilus is not a Kubuntu CD. Kubuntu CD is useless for beginers!
