Bug Description

Binary package hint: kernel-image-2.6.22-14-generic-di

Previous kernel (2.6.22-13) works fine.

Messages at startup:

Starting up
Loading, please wait.
/init: .:34: Can't open /scripts/functions

[1.4680000] Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init

It then sits there with both the caps lock and the num lock flashing every second or so.

This is on a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop (i686 SMP). Choosing recovery mode for 2.6.22-14 also fails in this way.
