Bug Description

Hi,

The version of Java 6 in this package is currently "1.6.0-b105" but the latest offering from SUN is "1.6.0_03-b05". The release notes are here http://java.sun.com/javase/6/webnotes/ReleaseNotes.html

I believe the many fixes in that list provide sufficient reason to upgrade.

Perhaps the latest version is in Gutsy... in which case please consider this a request to put the latest version into feisty. The changes are all bugfixes.

Yes, the java 6u3 package for gutsy has already been released. Note that it has about 4 security fixes that Sun's ReleaseNotes file fails to mention. They can be gleaned (for now) from http://blogs.sun.com/security/

The request for a backport to feisty was made in Bug #115687, but that recently expired for lack of activity. So I hesitate to mark this as a duplicate.

this was updated to 1.6.0_03-b05 in gutsy, but SUN have now released patch release 1.6.0_04 and it'd be great to have it in gutsy.

I'm afraid the patch isn't released in 1.6.0.04 since I have installed the version 1.6.0.04 of JRE (java-6-sun), but I couldn't run any java application until applied the Matthew Wardrop's workaround.

In Hardy sun-java6 was recently updated to 6-05-0ubuntu1. Use the "Nominate for release" link if you want to request update also for earlier Ubuntu versions.
