Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

As far as I can tell (I'm not sure how to test this) Visual Effects can use quite a bit of my batteries energi. Okay, if that's the case then Gnome-power-manager needs an option to overide Visual Effects when I'm on battery power.

To clarify, compiz has no noticeable effect on my laptop's battery life.

Okay, you're right. I've been doing my homework and compiz is not itself a power hog. I've been reading:

* http://www.howtoforge.com/power_consumption_powertop_fedora7

...and playing with Intel's powertop app, installable for gutsy from the repositories.
