Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-control-
Ubuntu 7.04.
Go to "System --> Preferences --> Keyboard".
"Keyboard mode" is "Generic 105-key (Intl) PC".
Two different keyboard layouts defined: "U.S. English" and "Italy".
"Separate group for each window" unchecked.
Select "Layout options" tab and check "NumLock LED shows alternative group" under the "Use keyboard LED to show alternative group" section.
At this point, Italian keyboard mapping is wrong since:
(1) key '-' is mapped as '/'
(2) key 'm' mapping is wrong
Using xev to check 'm' key mapping returns the following messages
-----[BEGIN]-----
KeyPress event, serial 29, synthetic NO, window 0x3c00001,
root 0x4d, subw 0x0, time 6959568, (-431,-52), root:(567,185),
state 0x2000, keycode 90 (keysym 0xff9e, KP_Insert), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
