Bug Description

rc-proposed

Close a running app and as quickly as possible open it again from the click scope
the app will crash much of the time

This happens on all apps I tried (dialer, messages, contacts, camera)
This does not occur in OTA 8.5
First noticed on 12/17

I generally do not see a crash file although the first time I got one for contacts and the spinner

I first noted this issue on Dec 14 [1] if that helps determine what caused this regression.

There was a bad merge in the polite-close branch (revision 424 "Politely asks processes to close before resorting to killing Fixes: #1434584") which made ApplicationManager::stopApplication() call application->close() twice.

What's happening is that the *same* application instance (ie process id) you previously closed creates a brand new window when you tap on its icon. I don't know yet why...

Some background info:
An application process is not terminated as soon as you swipe its window away from the apps spread but it's given some time to exit cleanly by itself. So having it hanging around by the time you tap on its icon is normal.

Still happens on r228 rc-proposed, krillin device

here's the log from unity8
http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/14504072/

What I did in the session described by that log:
- Open Tagger
- Close it while it was showing its splashscreen
- Open it again
- Close it while it was loading the "Scan" screen
- Open it again

at that point it showed the splashscreen for a moment, then the splashscreen disappeared as if I never launched the app.
