Bug Description

Binary package hint: nut

I have just switched over from debian testing and cannot get my Belkin USB UPS working with kubuntu gutsy on amd64.

I was surprised to see that nut is still on 2.0.5 in ubuntu. My UPS requires the driver 'megatec_usb' from the 2.2 nut version.

Is there any way possible to get 2.2 of nut into gutsy before it releases? My hardware simply will not work without it that I can tell.

For users with this similar issue the debian package "nut_2.2.0-2+b1_amd64.deb" seems to be working just fine on Gutsy amd64

wget http://debian.mirrors.tds.net/pub/linux/debian/pool/main/n/nut/nut_2.2.0-2+b1_amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i nut_2.2.0-2+b1_amd64.deb

though I've asked for that some time ago, it's now clear that nut 2.2
won't make its way into gutsy :-( sad

Hi Luca,

thanks for this update.

Two side notes:
- I've added a blueprint for HH and the integrated UPS support:
https://blueprints.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/integrated-usb-ups-support
This is really the way forward in terms of desktop integration, and
user experience (the simplest way, and yet better than other
competitors...)

- nut 2.2.1 (bugfix) release is scheduled for soon (~ a month). The
deb update will follow shortly...
